I reckon that South Aus will start their upgrade once NSW is done'n dusted and they can ship all our Moto techs over there! (Another advantage of having a national corporation doing the upgrades?)

I did think about holding off until they upgrade but I figure, as with the NSWGRN, that most of the info won't change; they should be using all the same sites and frequencies etc. and only the site numbers and CCs will change?

Does NSWGRN have it too?
Yep, when I say simulcast I'm referring to sites like our Site 150 (Crown Castle) where one donor site is simulcast from a number of different 'slave' sites.

Andrew
When I say simulcast im talking about true P25 CQPSK/LSM style modulation with several transmitters operating on the one frequency in a given coverage area...

Awesome, I hope it comes to the NSWGRN so I can test out our Mueller-Mueller CQPSK decoder.

Unless the boys in blue are using LSM also?

hi folks
* NSW GRN did not have simulcast for 4.1 (or earlier versions) (it was possible) and is unlikely to have it in P25
* Even if a telco etc was managing the NSW and SA GRNs, Mot would still be doing the upgrades as the equipment supplier / contactor so whether or not they run the network would not make much difference I would say. They did the respective 3.5 and 4.1 upgrades as a supplier / contractor adid not have any problems.

What on earth is a Mueller-Mueller CQPSK decoder?
Google did not help - only confuse me more

OK, so what are we calling sites like our GRN Site 150 (Crown Castle) where there are multiple sites all transmitting the same data on the same frequencies at the same time?

I take it you refer to donor sites that have multiple slave outlets?

If so:

* yes they are simulcast in the broad sense of the word.
* but they have discreet enclosed and/or underground coverage areas
* where the RF from one site does not meet the RF from another site due to the physical isolation
* true simulcast traditionionally means the same frequency RF is transmitted from 2 or more sites and there is cross over / overlap coverage into variuous ares but it is steered or segmented by phasing / prescise frequencies / and with P25 a sort of data manipulation.

For a basic explanation, more to do with analogue, but will give you an idea, have a look here:

Seems the MMR is expanding!

I've just added quite a few new sites discovered to the list.

Another couple of sites discovered for the Victorian MMR...

Sites 204 & 214 added to the list.
