Curiously, all the MDRN licences have been renewed till March 2019.

Government waste and incompetence Mike.
They’ll probably get renewed another couple of times before some useless muppet discovers they’re not needed any longer.

Was in the radio equipment room of the M5E tunnel recently. The MDRN repeater was still in situ in the rack but switched off. Unfortunately I didn't have the correct size Allen key with me.
I wonder how long it would sit there gathering dust before:
1. Someone realises it is no longer needed and nicks it?
2. Removes it and throws it away (a $4000 repeater) because the system is no longer used?
3. I can get back there with the correct size Allen key?

It's still transmitting Russell as of Friday last week. I did a quick search while crawling through the M5E tunnel on Friday and 421.375MHz was chuff, chuffing away. The Sydney Harbour Tunnel repeater on 421.5125Mhz is still running as well. The M5E repeater is not listed on ACMA though?rustynswrail wrote:Was in the radio equipment room of the M5E tunnel recently. The MDRN repeater was still in situ in the rack but switched off. Rusty - option 2.
There’s still a STACK of late 1980’s Ericsson AMPS gear out there from the Telecom Mobilenet days!

Mostly missing the receiver pre-amps which have been "re-purposed".

Today I noticed the Remington, Campbelltown and Horsley Park MDRN transmitters have fallen silent. 421.4375, 421.3000 and 421.4125MHz respectively.Mike Alpha wrote:Curiously, all the MDRN licences have been renewed till March 2019.

No RF carrier Mike? Or just no traffic?

No RF carrier. And the Maddens Plains repeater seems to have shut down as well on 421.950MHz.
